We applaud the people of Kansas for rejecting an attempt to eliminate constitutional protection for abortion.
A similar change is part of a package of amendments in PA’s SB106 along with Voter ID, an increase in the voting age to 21, and a change to how the Lieutenant Governor is chosen. It requires passage a second time in a different session of the assembly but could be on the ballot for voter approval as early as the 2023 Primary.
We will be keeping a close watch on this situation and will advise voters here and in our newsletter as the situation develops.
We had hoped that the majority achieved in the assembly by Democrats would put this to rest. However, 3 seats require a Special Election which has been scheduled for Feb 7th. Until those seats are filled, the Republicans still have a majority and an independent speaker was chosen.
